Thank you for your interest in joining one of our National teams and the Aviator Allstars Family. We are one of the largest and most exciting Allstar Programs in the UK.
The F-22 Raptors are one of the top teams in the country and will be a Co-Ed squad who will compete at USASF/IASF Level 6.
The Ladies of F-35 Lightning are our elite All-Girl squad who will also compete at USASF/IASF Level 6 both in the UK and abroad.
This season we are looking for talented, hard working and dedicated athletes who are driven to be the best to compete at competitions both around the UK and abroad. Whilst there are pre-set requirements for the team, we are always looking at potential and are eager to train up those who are hungry to succeed.
At Tryouts we are looking for the potential in you so do not worry if you do not already have the skills or do not have access to the coaching/bases/flyers/spring floor to practice these skills prior to tryouts. To help you prepare, we will be holding our Tryout Camp on the 16th of July 2011 from 09:00am-6:00pm at the Aviators' Gym in Leeds (address above) and will cost £10 per athlete (cash payable on the day). This is a fantastic opportunity where you will receive the coaching and spotting to master these skills. Email us now now to book your place as spaces are limited.
Tryout documents: You will need to bring your completed and signed Tryout Information Sheet, AV Release Form (and a current photo of you) with you to register. You will also be required to sign that you agree to adhere to the Aviator Allstars Rules and Regulations and Code of Conduct which will be available on the day. If you have any questions just email us.
What to wear: Tryout appearance should be "performance ready". Please remove all piercings. Females: Hair up in a ponytail, with bow. Wear a plain black sports bra/t-shirt/vest and plain black shorts. Males: appearance should be smart. Wear plain black t-shirt/vest and plain black shorts. All: clean white trainers and white socks. Please do not wear team logos.
What to bring: Please bring your Tryout Information Sheet, AV Release Form, Tryout Fee (£10), and a current photo of yourself to registration on the first day of tryouts. Although there are a couple of shops near by you will not have time to go out for food during the day so bring a packed lunch and plenty of water. The building gets very warm with the sun is out so please bring a towel/sweat bands if required. Make sure you bring any ankle/wrist supports/strapping or heat/freeze gel, etc. that you will need.
I can't make the Tryout weekend, can I still tryout: You can tryout via a Video Submission - ALL video tryouts must be received by Friday 22nd July, 2011 and should be used only as a last resort. If you absolutely can not make tryouts we recommended that you attend our Tryout Camp on 16th July 2011 so that the coaches can meet you and assess your skills as well as submitting a video entry. You must notify the coaches via email if you will be submitting a video.
Video Submission Guidelines: Make sure that it is clear which person is trying out on the video. At the beginning of your video, introduce yourself and indicate which position you are trying out for. Please refer to the Tryout Material for detailed information/requirements and arrange your video accordingly. Submit your video by email along with your Tryout Information Sheet, AV Release Form and a current photo of yourself. We will then forward you the Rules and Regulations, Code of Conduct and account details to transfer the Tryout Fee (£10). Please note, you will not be considered for the team until this has been received.
You will need to attend both days of tryouts. You can download the Schedule here. On Saturday you will be put into your tryout groups. This will be based on your performance from the camp and what position you are trying out for/who you/we think you will work well with. You will have time to work these skills and coaches will be there to help. On Sunday after registration you will tryout with your group.
Please do not be intimidated:
You will not necessarily have perform all the 'required' skills to make the team as we will be looking for potential and how well you progress at the camp and tryout. We will also be taking the 25-35 athletes who we think will fit best into the team family and contribute to becoming the best 'team' at competitions throughout our 2011-12 season.
All sequences required at tryouts will be taught at the Tryout Camp and will be available online prior to tryouts below. There are more details in the Tryout Pack which you can download from the top of this page.
During tryouts we will be looking for specific skills from you which are explained below. We are looking for cheerleaders who are prepared to work at all disciplines of cheerleading (including dance, motions, jumps, tumbling, and stunting), but are also looking for people who excel at certain skills such as tumbling and stunting.
Everyone who tries out will be required to perform the dance and jump sequence.
Everyone will be required to perform a standing tumble (can be spotted) and 2 stunts. Those trying out as stunting specialists will have to perform stunts but no running tumbles. A tumbling specialist will be required to perform 2 standing tumbles and at least 2 running tumbles. All-rounders will perform at least 2 stunts, 2 running tumbles, and 2 standing tumbles. We have no preference as to what you tryout as; just make sure you show off your best skills.
For standing tumbles, athletes will perform their chosen tumble 3 times on counts 1, 7, and then 5 (6 counts in between each tumble).
For stunting, athletes will be put into tryout groups at the tryout camp and the first day of tryouts to work their skills before tryouts.
