ICC Leeds 2008
Saturday 13th December 2008 saw the Aviators take
to the competition floor for the first time in history. The Aviator
Allstars Program came away from the cheerleading competition, held at
the University of Leeds by ICC (International
Cheerleading Coalition) with 4 first place and 2 second place trophies.
Linda Mitchell, Raptor Parent said, “I was so proud
of them all yesterday, they were all so brilliant, the whole arena was
behind them, what an atmosphere it was great!”
The Aviators’ day was kick started by Angela Shanks in Senior Individual,
placing first, followed by Ryan Tyson in Senior Male Individual who
gained second place. Co-ed Level 6 group stunt were up next placing
first for the 18th time in a row. The Partner Stunts then took to the
floor represented by Dan and Chloe, Matt and Kristie, who took first
and second place respectively. Then the final routine of the day saw
the F22 Raptors, Co-ed Level 6 team take to the floor as a team for
the very first time. Despite some challenging circumstances, they still
worked hard, gave it their all and won their division.
Aviator Athlete, Dan McMahon, 17 said, “Tim and
Rach have done very well coaching the team. We all have a great time
at training sessions. Well done to everyone else who competed at the
competition. Everyone did really well!”
In addition to the Aviator’s success, the Leeds University Celtic Cheerleaders,
also coached by Tim and Rachel, placed first in the Co-Ed level 3 division
against 3 other teams. In the University Pom Dance division, the routine
choreographed by Stephanie Lim, placed second.
Rachel Pearson, Coach of the Aviator Allstars said,
“The support from the Celtics was phenomenal, and was really appreciated
by the team.”
Aviator Allstars are currently recruiting potential cheerleaders throughout
the West Yorkshire area, welcoming athletes from 4 years and up, from
